Concrete repairs are taking place to the bridge which carries the A272 over the A34 at Three Maids Hill, north of Winchester (Hampshire).
These repairs will improve the longevity of the bridge and ensure safety for customers.
Specialist scaffolding will be in place below the bridge, and our teams will be elevated platforms to reach the areas to be repaired.
Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on the A34 northbound and southbound carriageways for the duration of the repairs. There will also be a lane closure and a 30mph speed limit on the A272 in both directions across the bridge.
In addition, the A34 southbound carriageway will be closed overnight for a 16 week period, followed by the A34 northbound carriageway which will be closed overnight for a 9 week period. All closures will be between 9pm and 6am, Monday to Friday nights only.
Clearly signed diversions will be in place using the A303 and A33 for light and non-motorway vehicles and via the A303 and M3 for HGVs and motorway permitted vehicles.
